Last week we talked holiday strategies to keep from packing on the pounds. But one thing we didn’t cover? How to detox your body once you’ve indulged.
There are ways to lighten your body’s toxic burden without going full on detox diet. We are not talking Master Cleanse here. More, simple ways to flush away the bit of damage from those little excesses.
As with all things healthy, balance is key here. If you sample some extra goodies at a holiday fete, keep it super clean the next day. By adding in these easy steps you’ll not only help your body out, but feel better in the process.
How to Detox Your Body during the holidays
Water // You probably aren’t surprised to see this one on the list. Water hydrated and keeps things flowing. It will also ensure you are (ahem) getting rid of whatever you ate the daily before.
Detox tea // An herbal concoction can help cleanse the liver of toxins. I like EveryDay Detox by Traditional Medicinals, which contains dandelion root. Try adding a splash of cranberry and lemon juices to enhance the effects.
Exercise // Sure, it can be easy to blow off your workout when you are running on empty, but even a short burst of exercise is beneficial. Gets your blood pumping, which is good for body and mood, and sweat eliminates toxins.
